Troubleshooting

Common issues and how to resolve them

Most common causes of errors and delays

Issues when receiving a quote and submitting a swap:

Insufficient balance

The amount of tokens you want to swap is greater than your wallet balance. Try entering a lower amount.

Price impact warning

The amount you are trying to swap is significant compared to the selected token’s available liquidity. You are more likely to get a better price if you lower the swap amount.

The amount you're trying to swap is lower than the fixed bridge fee

If the amount of tokens you are trying to swap is less than the cross-chain gas fee, this means you will not have enough tokens to cover the transaction. Try increasing the swap amount.

Wallet confirmation failed

You did not submit the swap by confirming in your wallet and so the transaction was unable to start. Return to the swap page and try again.

Fees are high

Squid overestimates gas by 50% to guarantee your trade. Any gas we don’t use will be refunded by Axelar. If fees are extra high, this is likely because gas fees are spiking on either of the chains you are swapping across.

If you received a gas refund, this will appear on Axelarscan after your transaction is complete. Gas refunds happen automatically and only happen if you overpaid for gas when you swapped using Squid.

Transaction-related issues and errors:

Transaction takes longer than expected

Unfortunately, sometimes transactions take longer than usual. If your transaction lasts for longer than 60 minutes, please open a ticket.

Transaction is complete, but I can't see the tokens in my wallet

First, check that you have added the token to your wallet:

  • Select the chain and token you swapped to in Squid’s app
  • Click the + button next to the token in the drop down token list
  • You should be prompted to add the token to your wallet.

If your balance of the intended token is not what you expected, you may have received axlUSDC on the destination chain. To find out, repeat the above steps with the axlUSDC token on the chain you swapped to.

Transaction failed or could not initiate

This means the initial swap on the source chain swap did not initiate. Your tokens will still be in your wallet on the source chain. A small amount may have been spent on gas. Return to the swap page and try again.

Transaction paused due to rising gas prices

If gas prices spike, you might need to top up the transaction before the tokens can finish on their journey. Find your Axelarscan link, connect your wallet and add gas on Axelarscan. If you struggle to do this, open a ticket.

You received axlUSDC unexpectedly

In the case of price volatility and low slippage, the transaction may revert. If this happens, you will receive the value of your original swap amount in axlUSDC (Squid’s routing token) on the destination chain - instead of your chosen token.

If you receive axlUSDC unexpectedly on the destination chain, you’re almost there! You can swap it to your desired token by using Squid V2 (for EVM chains) and Squid V1 (if you received axlUSDC on Osmosis).

Transaction failed / unknown error

If you receive this error during a transaction and your tokens do not arrive on the destination chain in the expected timeframe, please open a ticket and be sure to include any screenshots or Axelarscan links that relate to the transaction.

Tracking data unavailable

Axelar's status reporting may be down. The transaction data should appear when it becomes available again. You can check back on the status of the transaction on the Transaction history page.
