How to bridge Interchain Tokens
Axelar’s Interchain Token Service (ITS) enables any project building on any chain can easily deploy Interchain Tokens across 15+ chains, all with native-like fungibility and full ERC-20 custom functionality. Once deployed, Interchain Tokens become instantly accessible on Squid for users to bridge across all supported chains. Learn more about ITS and Interchain Tokens on Squid School.
We’ve split the following step-by-step guide for Interchain Tokens into two sections:
1. How to get Interchain Tokens on any chain
2. How to bridge Interchain Tokens across any chain
How to get Interchain Tokens on any chain
Step 1 - Visit v2.app.squidrouter.com and connect your wallet.
Step 2 - Select source chain and token you’ll be swapping from. For this example we’ll be using BNB on the BNB Chain as the source token and chain.
Step 3 - Select preferred destination chain and the preferred Interchain Token as the destination token. For this exampled we’ll be using $AI as the preferred Interchain Token token, and Arbitrum as the preferred destination chain.
*Note: You must swap into a destination chain that your preferred Interchain Token is deployed on.
Step 4 - Enter the amount of BNB that you would like to swap into AI on Arbitrum. Review your order and click ‘Submit.’ Make sure to approve in your wallet too, if prompted. You will see a ‘Processing’ message followed by ‘Complete.’ Congratulations, you now have AI on Arbitrum!
How to bridge Interchain Tokens across supported chains
Step 1 - Now that you have AI on an ITS supported chain, you can move AI between and across all other supported ITS chains as you want. Select ‘AI’ from ‘All Networks’ for a complete list of supported chains.
*Note: You can do this for any Interchain Token, we’re just using AI as an example.
Step 2 - For this example, we’ll be sending AI from Arbitrum to Polygon. Be sure to give permission and confirm in wallet if prompted.
